Red Mile
LEXINGTON, KY— The final
race card at The Red Mile featured some of the world’s greatest trotters and
older horses. Headlining the card was the 120th edition of the
$508,000 Kentucky Futurity and its filly counterpart, the 47th
edition of the $287,000 Kentucky Filly Futurity. Also on the stellar closing
card was the $70,000 Allerage Mare Pace, $131,200 Allerage Open Trot, $119,200
Allerage Mare Trot and the $155,000 Allerage Open Pace.
Drop The Ball Storms Home in Allerage
Drop The Ball received
redemption after a disappointing sixth in the Milton Stakes and she closed hard
to win the $70,000 Allerage Farm Filly And Mare Pace in 1:49.2.
Anndrovette
took the lead, with Swinging Beauty in second and Ginger And Fred third.
Anndrovette led the field by the quarter in :28. No move was made until the
half-mile, which was timed in :55.3 (:27.3). Rocklamation came first over from
fifth and began to surge into the far turn. Drop The Ball picked up cover
second over and Ginger And Fred was shuffled back. Rocklamation took a short
lead at three-quarters in 1:23.3 (:28).
Drop The
Ball fanned off cover and kicked away from the field turning for home.
Rocklamation was battling off Anndrovette in second and Ginger And Fred came
off the pylons, surging into fourth. Drop The Ball was home free and won the
Allerage in 1:49.2 (:25.4). Rocklamation was second, Anndrovette was third and
Ginger And Fred finished fourth.
Drop The Ball ($3.80) is by Western Terror, out of the mare Mattcheck Girl by
Matt’s Scooter. She is owned by Let It Ride Stables, Mr. D. Parham and Robert
Cooper Stables, trained by Ross Croghan and Yannick Gingras was in the
sulky.
Storybook Season Continues for Chapter Seven
Chapter Seven trotted
another magnificent mile, winning the $131,200 Allerage Farms Trot in 1:50.2.
Chapter
Seven was wide around the first turn and cleared the lead at the quarter in
:27.3. Hot Shot Blue Chip sat second, Arch Madness was in third and Wishing
Stone was back in fourth. Chapter Seven was unchallenged by the half in :55.1
(:27.3). Mister Herbie came first over from fifth into the far turn and moved
into second at the five-eighths. Hot Shot Blue Chip was dropping back in third
and Arch Madness began to angle off the pylons at three-quarters in 1:23.1
(:28).
Chapter
Seven extended his lead to 2 lengths into the stretch. Mister Herbie moved into
second and Arch Madness was trotting into third. Wishing Stone passed a
faltering Hot Shot Blue Chip entering the eighth pole. Chapter Seven was in
front by 4 lengths and was an easy winner in 1:50.2 (:27.1). Mister Herbie was
second, Arch Madness was third and Wishing Stone was fourth.
Chapter
Seven ($2.40) is by Windsong’s Legacy, out of the mare La Riviera Lindy by
Dream Vacation. He is owned by Richard Gutnick, Southwind Farms and Jerry and
Theresa Silva, trained by Linda Toscano and Tim Tetrick was in the sulky.
Frenchfriesnvinegar Rebounds in Allerage
After finishing fifth
against the boys, Frenchfriesnvinegar dominated her gender in the $119,200
Allerage Farms Mare Trot in 1:52.
Frenchfriesnvinegar
took the lead, with Magic Wheel first over in second and Tamla Celeber S in
third. Frenchfriesnvinegar trotted by the quarter in :26.4. Magic Wheel tucked
into second down the backstretch and Tamla Celeber S gapped 4 lengths in third.
No one made a move at the half in :54.3 (:27.4).
Tamla
Celeber S was flushed first over into the far turn. Cedar Dove picked up her
cover and Action-Broadway was sluggish third over. Frenchfriesnvinegar drew off
by 2 lengths at three-quarters in 1:23.2 (:28.4).
Everyone’s
mission was to chase down Frenchfriesnvinegar turning for home. She was in
front by 4 lengths entering the eighth pole. Cedar Dove rallied off cover and
Beatgoeson Hanover was storming down the center of the track. They had too much
ground to make up and Frenchfriesnvinegar was a 2 length winner in 1:52
(:28.3). Cedar Dove was second, Beatgoeson Hanover was third and Mystical
Starlight rode the pylons to finish fourth.

($6.40) is by Angus Hall, out of the mare Gugus by Fool Me Not. She is owned by
David Smith, trained by Jeff Gillis and Jody Jamieson was behind the mare.
Bettor Sweet Returns to Winning Ways in Allerage
After a year of losses
and poor efforts, Bettor Sweet visited the winner’s circle for the first time
in 2012 as he won the $155,000 Allerage Farms Pace in 1:48.1.
Golden
Receiver took the lead, with We Will See in second and Bettor Sweet in third.
Golden Receiver paced the opening quarter in :26.4. Foiled Again angled first
over just passing the quarter pole. Foreclosure N picked up his cover from
seventh. Bettor Sweet was flushed first over from third at the half in :54
(:27.1).
Aracache Hanover
found room and came second over into the far turn. Foiled Again was pushed back
third over as Golden Receiver was holding on to the lead. Bettor Sweet took
over command at three-quarters in 1:22 (:28).
Bettor
Sweet was the one to catch into the lane. Aracache Hanover began to rally off
cover and Foiled Again was surging down the center of the track. Bettor Sweet
was holding onto the lead and was not caught in the final strides. He won the
Allerage in 1:48.1 (:26.1). Aracache Hanover was second, Foiled Again was third
and We Will See was fourth.
Bettor Sweet ($10.60) is by Bettor’s Delight, out of the mare Sweet Future by
Falcons Future. He is owned by John Cancelliere, trained by Thomas Cancelliere
and David Miller guided Bettor Sweet to a 1:48.1 victory.
Win Missy B Captures Filly Futurity in World Record Miles
The Charlie
Norris-trained Win Missy B won straight heats of the Kentucky Filly Futurity in
1:52 and 1:52.1, respectively.
In the
first elimination, Win Missy B defeated Check Me Out in a 1:52 effort. Tetrick
and Check Me Out were wide into the first turn and Win Missy B tracked her for
cover. Check Me Out took over command passed the quarter in :27.4. Tracking,
Win Missy B cleared the lead at the half in :55.3 (:27.4).
Into the
far turn, Valdonna came first over and forced Check Me Out back to the outside
to protect her position. Win Missy B was holding off the challenge of Check Me
Out at three-quarters in 1:24.1 (:28.3). At the top of the stretch, Win Missy B
was starting to extend her lead. Check Me Out was drifting in second and
Personal Style was closing into third. Win Missy B was in front and going to
win the first heat in 1:52 (:27.4). Check Me Out was second, Personal Style was
third, Bluff was fourth and D’orsay held on for fifth.
The other
elimination went to Oasis Dream, who trotted in 1:53.4.
Real Babe
was the leader at the quarter in :28.2. Oasis Dream sat the pocket until the
three-eighths, where she brushed to the lead and cleared at the half in :57.3
(:29.1). Superstar Hanover came first over into the far turn.
Chilitodayhotamale was second over and Can’t Have My Moni went off stride.
Oasis Dream still had the lead at three-quarters in 1:26.1 (:28.3).
Chilitodayhotamale
rallied off cover into the lane. Tetrick was asking for more from Oasis Dream
and she responded, holding off the challenge of Chilitodayhotamale to win the
Kentucky Filly Futurity elimination in 1:53.4 (:27.3). Chilitodayhotamale was
second, Superstar Hanover was third, Real Babe was fourth and Canadian Justice
was fifth.

Superstar
Hanover was the leader into the first turn. Win Missy B got away second and
D’orsay was caught first over in third. Win Missy B found room out of the
pocket and came up to Gingras’s wheel at the quarter in :28.3. Win Missy B
cleared the lead at the three-eighths. D’orsay was trotting up to her wheel in
second, Superstar Hanover was at the rail in third and Personal Style came onto
the outside trying to pick up cover from D’orsay. Win Missy B took the field by
the half in :56.2 (:27.4).
D’orsay was
neck and neck with Win Missy B at three-quarters in 1:24.2 (:28). Personal
Style came three wide and was surging up to rivals approaching the wire.
D’orsay was holding onto second and Win Missy B still had command. Personal Style
lunged a final time, but Win Missy B was already clear and crossed the wire in
1:52.1 (:27.4). Personal Style was second, D’orsay was third and Superstar
Hanover finished fourth.
Win Missy B ($34.80 in the first heat, $4.20 in the second heat) is by Conway
Hall, out of the mare Winning Missbrenda by American Winner. She is owned by
Robert Key, trained by Charlie Norris and Ron Pierce was in the bike, guiding
Win Missy B to a 3:44.1 two-heat world record performance in the 47th
Kentucky Filly Futurity.
Alagna the ‘Mvp’ of the Kentucky Futurity
In his breakout year,
Tony Alagna scored another major stakes victory with his prized trotter My Mvp.
He won straight heats in 1:52 and 1:53, respectively.
Money On My
Mind was the tempo setter in the first elimination. Magic Tonight got away
second and Solvato was in third. Guccio was caught wide in fourth heading to
the quarter. Money On My Mind took the field by the quarter in :28.1. Solvato
pulled the pocket and brushed by Andy Miller passing the three-eighths. Guccio
inched into third and Appomattox edged to the outside, hopeful to pick up
Takter’s cover. Solvato led the field by the half in :55.1 (:27).
Into the
far turn, Guccio began backing up. Solvato was still on top at three-quarters
in 1:23.2 (:28.1). Money On My Mind angled off the pylons and was in
pursuit of Solvato at the top of the stretch. Appomattox fanned off cover and
My Mvp was storming down the center of the track off the pylons. Appomattox
took a short lead but My Mvp was charging next to him and Lachance got his colt
in front in the nick of time, winning in 1:52 (:28.3). Appomattox was second,
Money On My Mind was third, Banker Volo was fourth and Guccio faded to fifth.
Archangel
took the other elimination in 1:53.1.
Archangel
took the lead, with Little Brown Fox in second and Another Amaretto third.
Fogelberg went off stride and Gym Tan Laundry was pacing in the back. Archangel
took the field by the quarter in :27.3. There was no change in order at the
half in :56.3 (:29). There was still no change in order through three-quarters
in 1:25.4 (:29.1).
Little
Brown Fox and Another Amaretto angled off the pylons in pursuit of Archangel
turning for home. Lindys Jersey Boy went on a break. The two could not catch
Archangel and he was an easy winner in 1:53.1 (:27.4). Little Brown Fox was
second, Another Amaretto was third and Lindys Jersey Boy finished fourth.

was the leader at the quarter in :28.3. Money On My Mind was in second and
Another Amaretto got away third. My Mvp was in fourth down the backstretch and
came first over approaching the half-mile. Little Brown Fox picked up his cover
and Appomattox was third over at the half in :57.1 (:28.3). My Mvp was applying
pressure to Archangel into the far turn. Money On My Mind was locked in second
and Little Brown Fox was carried into third. Archangel was holding onto the
lead at three-quarters in 1:25.3 (:28.2).
My Mvp took
the lead into the final eighth of a mile. Archangel quit and Appomattox came
flying off cover with Little Brown Fox. Money On My Mind was surging late after
finding racing room. My Mvp was holding on and he won the Kentucky Futurity by
a length in 1:53 (:27.2). Appomattox was second, Another Amaretto was third and
Little Brown Fox finished fourth.
My Mvp
($19.60 in first heat and $6.60 in the second heat) is by Cantab Hall, out of
the mare Exceed Expectation by Kadabra. He is owned by Brittany Farms, Joe
