Bettor's Edge captures Vernon Downs feature.

Bettor's Edge (Jennifer Lappe) wins the featured pace ($9,000) at Vernon Downs on Saturday (June 1).

Major Leaguer (Jimmy Whittemore) jumped out of the gate to take the early lead.  Bettor's Edge ($4.00) went first-over to take control before hitting the first quarter in :27.0.

Bettor's Edge, who is owned by Robert Santagata and trainer Lappe, led to the half in :55.1.  He continued to control the pace hitting three-quarters in 1:22.4.  As they hit the stretch Major Leaguer went to the outside and Calvin B (John MacDonald) went to the inside.  Bettor's Edge was too strong and would not be denied and won with a seasonal best of 1:50.1.  Major Leaguer settled for second with Calvin B getting third.

Bettor's Edge is a 10 year-old gelding by Bettor's Delight.  It was his second win this season.  He now owns 45 career victories.

John MacDonald had four winners on the night.  He led the Homer Hochstetler trained Bay Rum ($2.40) to his fifth consecutive victory.  His other wins came with Brookdale Bruiser ($6.40), Western Toro ($3.10), and Haulin Oats ($4.50).

Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Friday (June 7) at 6:10 p.m.
