MANALAPAN, NJ – July 9. 2016 – 2-year-old New Jersey Bred
trotters and pacers alike took the stage at the Meadowlands on Friday July 8,
for round two of Sire Stakes racing.
Fly On popped the pocket in the stretch to coast by
Southwind Cobra for victory in 1:55.4 in the first race, a $25,000 New Jersey
Sire Stakes for trotting colts and geldings.
Hammer Time [Muscle Hill] finished third.
The Muscle Hill colt Fly On trained by Julie Miller
sprinted home for third in a blistering 26.4 in his debut, the opening round of
the New Jersey Sire Stakes. A $55,000 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale
Purchase, Fly On races in the name of Andy Miller Stable, Arden Homestead
Stable and GTY Stable. Steve Stewart and
Diane Giuliano bred him.
Every Way Out the 1-9 favorite delivered as expected
winning by an impressive 4 lengths over Deo Galileo. Firefox Hanover rallied from seventh in the
stretch to finish third.
Every Way Out continues to remain undefeated in his first
two lifetime starts, taking leg two of the $25,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes for
pacing colts. Hand driven by Tim Tetrick
Every Way Out crossed the wire in
1:55.0 with a last quarter of 26.3.
The Aaron Lambert owned and trained If I Can Dream colt
was purchased for $12,000 and was bred by Bulletproof Enterprises.
Checkmate Time snuck up the inside to out sprint Waffle
Cone for the win in 1:55. Third place
went to Captivating Spirit.
The Roy Dobbins homebred and Dennis Laterza trainee
overcame post position nine to take her second win in the New Jersey Sire
Stakes.
The two year old filly pace division of the $25,000 New
Jersey Sire Stakes was taken by the If I Can Dream homebred Livinginthedream in
1:55.3.
Marcus Miller left the gate with the Erv Miller trained
filly and took the lead at every call to finish a length ahead of Wonderful
World.
Strongrthandastorm finished third.
All four divisions of the finals for the 2-year-old New
Jersey Sire Stakes takes place next Friday night (July 15) at the Meadowlands.
