Chalks, Long Shots Sprinkled About At Buffalo Raceway

by Brian J. Mazurek, for Buffalo Raceway

HAMBURG, N.Y. --- There was a little bit of something for everyone at Buffalo Raceway on Sunday afternoon (July 3) as the program was sprinkled with chalks and long shots.

On the 12-race card, the favorites found the winner's circle six times while horses with win mutuels over $30.00 came in three times.

Driver Drew Monti spearheaded the long shot parade as he posted a $65.50 win aboard Warhorse in the opener and followed that up by guiding Fox Valley Lena to a $34.20 victory.

Ray Fisher Jr. was a part of lighting up the tote board with a $32.80 score on Lady Jill.

David McNeight III had a triple and conditioned two winners while Todd Cummings had two victories in the sulky.

There's a 14-race card scheduled for Wednesday night at 5 p.m. with the New York Sire Stakes rolling back into town with the 2-year-old filly pacers in the spotlight. There will also be competition in the Excelsior A and B Series. The Pick-5 has a carryover over $487 heading into the card.
