TAKE IT BACK TERRY WINS SATURDAY 40G OPEN HANDICAP PACE

BY FRANK DRUCKER, Publicity Director, Empire City @ Yonkers Raceway

YONKERS, NY, Saturday, November 7, 2015—Take it Back Terry (George Brennan, $2.30) did his damage inside Saturday night, winning Yonkers Raceway’s $40,000 Open Handicap Pace.

After pole-assigned E Z Noah (Brent Holland)—himself chased along to catch gate—stuffed everyone in behind, “Terry”, from post position No. 5, and Mach it So (Jason Bartlett), were nestled second and third, respectively.

“Noah” led through intervals of :27, :55.3 and 1:23.1 before Mach it So took his shot. E  Z Noah maintained a short lead into the lane, but Take it Back Terry had a rare rendezvous with the passing lane and went by. The final margin was a length in a season’s-best 1:50.3. E Z Noah held second, with Mach it So, Alberto Contador N (Tyler Buter) and Big N Bad (Eric Carlson) coming away with the remainder. Mach’s Beach Boy (Pat Lachance) was outrun.

For Take it Back Terry, a 6-year-old Western Terror gelding co-owned (as Burke Racing) by (trainer) Ron Burke, Weaver Bruscemi, Larry Karr and Phil Collura, it was his 12th win in 28 seasonal tries. The exacta paid $10.20, with the triple returning $26.

Brennan’s pair of wins Saturday raised his career number to 8,997.

Sunday racing returns today/tomorrow (Nov. 8), with first post at 11:15 AM
