CAROLSIDEAL FOUR-PEATS IN FRIDAY 35G DISTAFF HANDICAP PACE

BY FRANK DRUCKER, Publicity Director, Empire City @ Yonkers Raceway

YONKERS, NY, Friday, February 13, 2015—Favored Carolsideal (Dan Dube, $6.90) continued her form spree Friday night, handily winning Yonkers Raceway’s $35,000 featured Filly and Mare Open Handicap Pace.

In play early from post position No. 7, ”Carol’s” four-hole became a three-hole after invading Medusa (George Brennan) broke while going for the lead. That left pole-positioned Palm Patrol (Mark MacDonald) in charge, albeit briefly.
Carolsideal then moved to take over, doing so after a :28.2 opening quarter-mile. A pair of cheapo 29-second next intervals (:57.2, 1:26.2) gave the leader a length-and-a-half advantage into the lane. She then held sway, whipping a passing lane-diving Palm Patrol by a head in a season’s-best 1:54.4. Handsoffmycookie (Matt Kakaley), Momma Rock (Jason Bartlett) and last week’s victress, For the Ladies N (Brian Sears). rounded out the payees.

For Carolsideal, a 6-year-old daughter of Western Ideal trained by Rene Allard for co-owners him (as Allard Racing), Yves Sarazin and Kapildeo Singh, it was her fourth win in as many seasonal starts (and purchase/barn change). The exacta paid $39.40, with the triple returning $158.
The Raceway’s live season continues Saturday night (post time 7:10 PM). After that, it’s Monday (7:10 PM), Tuesday (1 PM), then Thursday through Saturday (all at 7:10 PM). Note the next Sunday matinee is Feb. 22 (post time 12:10 PM). Evening simulcasting accompanies all night programs, with afternoon simulcasting available daily (all provided Mother Nature cooperates).
