TRIXTON & WELL BUILT TAKE NJSS OPENERS


MANALAPAN, NJ – May 16, 2014 – Trixton and Well Built, both sons of Muscle Hill, won the colts and geldings divisions of the opening round of New Jersey Sire Stakes for three-year-old trotters under wet and sloppy conditions on Friday night, May 16, 2014 at the Meadowlands.

In the filly division, winning efforts were turned in by Moonlight In Miami by Muscles Yankee and My Inspiration by Chocolatier.

Trixton, trained and driven by Jimmy Takter, was a four and three-quarter length winner in 1:54.2. in the $21,500 second race, besting Lightning Force [Muscle Hill] with a 26.2 last quarter.  It was seven lengths to King City [Muscle Hill] in third. 

A Simpson winner in his last start, Trixton [$2.40] has two wins and a second in three starts this year and has finished in-the-money in nine of 11 career starts, banking more than $94,000 for Brixton Medical AB of Sweden and Christina Takter of East Windsor, NJ.

Well Built, with John Campbell driving for trainer Chris Ryder, drew off to a three-length victory over Martinwithmuscle [Muscle Hill] in 1:56.2 in the $21,500 sixth race.  Muscle Network [Muscle Hill] was third by three and a quarter lengths.

Well Built [$9.80], co-owned by Ryder and Robert Mondillo of Delaware, OH, picked up his second win in five starts this year.  Lifetime, he has been first or second in nine of 17 tries and earned more than $115,000.

Campbell was also at the lines of the Takter-trained Moonlight In Miami, who won the $21,000 fourth race in 1:55.2, finishing two lengths ahead of Yoga [Muscles Yankee] and a two and a half ahead of Demoiselle Hanover [Muscle Hill].

Moonlight In Miami [$8.60], who had one win in four starts at two, was making her 2014 debut.  She races in the name of Ontario natives Marvin Katz, Al Libfeld and Sam Goldband.

My Inspiration trotted her winning mile in 1:57 in a non-wagering event before the betting card.

Yannick Gingras guided the Trond Smedshammer trainee to a length and a quarter tally over Scream And Shout [Muscles Yankee] and two and three-quarter lengths ahead Fastdownthehill [Muscle Hill].

Libfeld and Katz also own My Inspiration, who had a second and a third in three starts at two and was making her first start at three.
