Southwind Trini took the top Mares class for the 2nd time this meet, this one
in 1:52.1. Driver Jim Marohn, Jr. guided the 6 YO mare to the front thru
fractions of 27.4, 56.2 and 1:23.4. Right around the 3-quarter pole, Cloris
Hanover made a spirited charge, even placing a head in front around the last
turn, but Southwind Trini fought back and held to the wire to deliver the 3rd
winner of the night for the Marohn Jr.
Trainer Rob Harmon also picked up 3 wins
tonight by taking the Mares Miracle Mile 2 event as well as sending out a
winner in the GSY amateur series.
