MANALAPAN,
NJ – November 22, 2013 – Vintage Master, who enjoyed racing success in New
Jersey, will be returning to the Garden State to stand the 2014 breeding season
at Walnridge Farm in Cream Ridge, NJ for a fee of $3,500.
He
stood his first two seasons in Ontario.
“We
hated leaving Ontario but saw a great opportunity for Vintage Master in New
Jersey,” said Brittany Farms General Manager Art Zubrod. “We firmly
believe that expanded gaming is getting very close [in New Jersey] and wanted
to be ahead of the game.”
Vintage
Master retired with $2,162,979 in earnings and a mark of 1:48.1 taken as a
four-year-old.
“We think harness racing in New Jersey - and the sire stakes
program - will make a comeback in the years ahead, and we want to show our
support,” said Zubrod. “He makes a great fit for that program as well.”
Vintage Master’s foals will be eligible to the New Jersey Sire
Stakes, and, for mares bred that meet Kentucky’s foaling and residency
requirements, they could become eligible to the Kentucky Sire Stakes as well.
Vintage Master earned more than a million dollars as a
three-year-old and won the Tattersalls and Bluegrass on a mile track, the Adios
on a five-eighths and the Cane Pace on a half. He was a top free for all
pacer with victories that included the $500,000 Ben Franklin.
The Jimmy Takter trainee retired with 17 wins, 15 seconds and 15
thirds from 75 starts during his campaign that began in 2008 and concluded in
early 2012.
Like
the late Rocknroll Hanover, New Jersey’s dominate pacing sire for many years,
he is a son of Western Ideal.
His speed-producing Artsplace dam, Art’s Vintage, descends from
the maternal line of the great Hall of Fame mare Silk Stockings.
