Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment will host the first
night of live racing in the glorious new facility on Saturday, November 23. The
program is headed by the last leg of the TVG Free For All series with the stars
of the open division prepping for next week’s $500,000 finals.
The $50,000 TVG Pace (race seven) features the richest pacer in
harness racing history, Foiled Again, facing seven worthy rivals as he nears $6
million in career earnings. Yannick Gingras will be aboard the ageless wonder
for trainer Ron Burke and owners Burke Racing, Weaver / Bruscemi and JJK
Racing.
Breeders Crown winner Market Share heads up a field of six in the
second race, the $50,000 TVG trot. Last year’s Hambletonian winner starts from
post two with Tim Tetrick listed to drive for trainer Linda Toscano and owners
Richard Gutnick, TLP Stable and William Augustine.
The thirteen race card will get underway at 7:15pm. The
feature promotion is a $1 million jackpot offered to the customer able to
correctly select the winner of all thirteen races. Details for that promotion
will be available at the track.
New Meadowlands Chairman Jeff Gural spoke of the response by
horsemen to the task of filling the opening day card. “I appreciate the
response of the trainers and owners to the short box yesterday,” said Gural.
“The number of entries more than doubled by Wednesday morning and we were able
to card full fields.”
“We have a great opportunity to attract new customers with this
modern facility and a strong product is imperative. We want to give our fans
competitive, exciting races when they make the choice to come to our track. I
look forward to seeing many of you Thursday for the preview dinner or on
Saturday night.”
