MANALAPAN,
NJ – November 26, 2013 – Hall of Fame driver Cat Manzi, who suffered multiple
pelvic fractures in a racing accident at Freehold Raceway on September 6, 2013,
returns to action on Friday, November 29, 2013.
It
is a Thanksgiving wish come-true for the Manzi family.
“Cat
has been cleared by the doctor [today] and will be back driving on Friday,”
Ellen Manzi, his wife, texted this morning.
Manzi
has been preparing for his return, awaiting only the release from the doctor.
“He
has been to Pocono, warming up horses for Aaron Lambert, and has been training
for Carl Cito,” noted Ellen Manzi.
Manzi,
63, is the third highest all-time winningest driver in harness racing history
with 14,789 career victories.
Manzi
is listed on Beauxarts Hanover, No. 5 in Friday’s 12th race at
Freehold. He is expected to pick up additional mounts when driver changes
are reported on Wednesday morning.
He
also has a drive in the seventh race on Friday night at Yonkers.
“I’m
always worried,” Ellen Manzi said, when asked about Cat’s return to the
track. “But he is happy so that’s what matters.”
