MANALAPAN,
NJ – November 9, 2013 – Patrick Berry picked up his 3,000th career
driving victory in the eighth race at Freehold Raceway on Saturday, November 9,
2013.
The
Illinois native, now based in Jamesburg, NJ, guided Rocknroll Jewel to a
three-quarters of a length victory in 1:56.1 for trainer Frank Scamporino Jr.
The
37-year-old Berry reached his milestone with his 66th win of the
year. Since 1994, he has driven the winners of more than $27.4
million.
Berry
followed his grandfather, Clarence Jacobs, and his uncle, Randy Jacobs, into
his career in harness racing. His father, Dan, runs a construction
company and races horses as a hobby. Pat Berry headed to the racetrack as
soon as he graduated high school and posted his first win in 1995.
