EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ
(December 9, 2016) – A 42/1 shot in
the first leg and a 25/1 shot in the last leg helped trigger a rare Pick Four
carryover Friday night at the Meadowlands. The “too-tough-to-figure” sequence
means there will be a carryover of $39,173 for horseplayers to chase on
Saturday night. The Late Pick Four covers Races 7-10.
Friday’s sequence was kicked
off by Blush Hanover who paid $84.60. I C Caviar ($14.40) and Joyful Game ($12.60)
came through in the middle legs. Jacks To Open ($52.00) narrowly held on to win
the fourth and final leg as one of only two horses that was not covered.
The Pick Four is a 50-cent
base wager and regularly features a 15-percent takeout. However, with the large
carryover, horseplayers will be wagering into a pool with significantly lower
takeout, essentially getting “free” money.
Free
program pages will be available on the Meadowlands website courtesy of
TrackMaster.
Historically, at least
$100,000 in “new money” is wagered into a Pick Four carryover of this size at
the Meadowlands.
