YONKERS CANCELS SATURDAY CARD; ALHAMBRA WINS FRIDAY 16G FEATURE

BY FRANK DRUCKER, Publicity Director, Empire City @ Yonkers Raceway

YONKERS, NY, Friday, February 12, 2016—Yonkers Raceway has cancelled its live program for Saturday night (Feb. 13), due to the predicted record cold temperatures in the greater New York area. Evening simulcasting has also been scrapped

Live racing and evening simulcasting are scheduled to resume Monday evening (Feb. 15), with a $10,000 guaranteed Pick 5 pool and a first post at 7:10 PM.

Note that afternoon simulcasting is scheduled to be available Saturday, regardless of whether Aqueduct races or not. As of this writing, at least the third and fourth floor are to be open for simulcasting, which goes until approximately 6 PM.

Friday night’s $16,000 distaff pacing feature was won by pole-sitting Alhambra (George Brennan, $14.20), who slipped off the cones to pick off 13-10 fave Delightful Dragon (Brent Holland) late in 1:55.2. The margin was a length, with Icommandmyspirit (Eric Abbatiello), Stormunn (Jordan Stratton) and Jonsie Jones (Tyler Buter) rounding out the payees.

For fourth choice Alhambra, a 6-year-old daughter of Art Major co-owned by Joshua Schwartz and Raymond Hoegen Jr. and trained by William Adamczyk, it was her first win in a couple of seasonal starts. She led a $65.50 exacta, $266 triple and $2,090 superfecta.
