FREEHOLD, NJ – January 14, 2016 – Freehold Raceway
management, horsemen, and the Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association of
New Jersey are combining forces Monday, January 18, 2016 to support the
horsemen that fell victim to the fire at Classy Lane Training Center. The devastating fire claimed the lives of
more than 40 standardbred racehorses.
The six trainers housed in that barn lost all of their stable equipment
in the fire.
Freehold is encouraging drivers and trainers to donate
their percentages from Monday’s race card to their fellow horsemen. Freehold Raceway has pledged to match the
horsemen’s total. SBOANJ President Mark
Ford and the board members have joined the effort and are willing to make a
contribution equaling the amount the horsemen raise.
