Prior to going to post for the days
first race, Driver Bruce Aldrich Jr. had 330 wins, at days end he had
336. Bruce ranks 4 nationally in wins, behind Cory Callahan with 355,
Bruce now trails Callahan by 19 wins for 3rd spot.
On a muddy afternoon with a track
listed as sloppy, it did not deter Bruce as he started the day in normal
fashion for him on days he wins multiple races by sweeping both ends of the
Daily Double, (Perfect Raider – My Man Ben) He came back to score in the
5th race with Lenny Mac, for trainer Jose Godinez. His mount in the
6th race Tymal Luckynpink was scratched. In the 7th race,
Shark Treasure got him into the winners circle, as he won by 2 lengths in
1:57:1. He came right back in the 8th to win with Excel Nine in the
fastest race of the day on an off track in 1:55:3. He finished up the afternoon
with Thiswayorthehighwy for leading Monticello Trainer Robert Lounsbury, winning
by a neck over One Shark Road.
When reached in the paddock after the
last race the muddy Aldrich said “Last night when I was looking at the program,
I knew I had a shot for a good day, but I didn’t think it was going to be this
good!”
Thus far in 2015 Bruce has driven his
mounts in excess of $1,500,000 in earnings. The hard working driver also
doubles at Saratoga Raceway after the afternoon program at Monticello.
