On a beautiful summer like day with temperatures in the mid
80’s a fast track and a slight head wind, Crazy Wow and Habitat did not
disappoint, and raced up to expectations, with each scoring impressive
victories.
In the first division of Sire Stakes, Crazy Wow raced in his
usual catch me if you can fashion scored a wire to wire victory in
1:56:4. Fresh off 2 qualifiers at the Meadowlands, the son of Crazed
never had an anxious moment. Confidant driver Yannick Gingras sternly
said in the winner’s circle afterwards “He was real good”
In the 4th race the Excelsior A division,
Monticello favorite Hollywoods Thatway, benefited from a DQ from Eskimo Joe,
who put in a few steps at the top of the lane and was declared the winner in
1:59:2, a new lifetime mark.
In the 8th race the winning combination of Ron
Burke and Yannick Gingras took home their second win of the afternoon with
Habitat in 1:56:3, Buen Casmino provided a scare at the top of the stretch when
he shot out of the 2 hole and looked like he would go right on by Habitat, that
was all the urging Habitat needed to step up his game to prevail, easily
passing the look me in the eye test.
Team Gingras and Burke took home their 3rd win of
the afternoon, scoring with Stoneham in 1:59:4 in the Excelsior A Division.
In the 10th race, Maestro Blue Chip took a new
mark of 1:57 for Trainer – Driver Trond Smedshammer. The Credit winner
colt is owned by Purple Haze Stable
Other winners of the day included Desert Storm 2:01:3,
Courts N Session, Royal Status 1:59:1, Azucar 1:59:4 & Military Blue 1:58:1
