YONKERS, NY, Friday, September 5,
2014—When Yonkers Raceway hosts the 25th edition of the New York
Night of Champions next Saturday (Sept. 13), all the available cash won’t be
reserved for the participants.
Along with a cool $1.8 million in
purses—eight sire stakes finals for 2- and 3-year-olds of both sexes and gaits
at $225,000 each—Yonkers is offering a $10,000 guaranteed Pick 5 pool. The
50-cent base wager shall be sequenced as races 5 through 9, all of which figure
to be very competitive statebred events.
“The Night of Champions is one of our
best programs of the season, and by adding a Pick 5 guarantee we hope to
attract even more interest,” Raceway Chief Operating Officer Bob Galterio
said.
Please note that, as per existing Pick 5
rules, should no one select all five winners, the entire pool (minus takeout)
would carry over to the Monday (Sept. 15) card. The Night of Champions Pick 5
guarantee is a partnership of Yonkers Raceway, the Standardbred Owners
Association of New York and the US Trotting Association’s Strategic Wagering
Program. The races are to be drawn Tuesday (Sept. 9), with program pages for the
“guarantee” available soon after at www.yonkersraceway.com.
The Raceway's five-night-per-week live schedule continues, with first post
every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:10 PM. Evening
simulcasting accompanies all live programs, with afternoon simulcasting
available daily.
