CAL EXPO READIES FOR FALL OPENER

The fall harness meeting at Cal Expo is set to begin Saturday, October 4, with Saturday programs in October expanding to Saturday and Sunday night action in November.

Watch and Wager LLC, the operator of harness racing at Cal Expo, has released the list of Late Closers for the 2014-2015 meeting that is set to begin on Saturday, October 4.

Opening night will feature the first legs of the Bill Conlin Pacing Series for colts and geldings and the Annette Funicello Pacing Series for the fillies and mares.

November will find three pacing series with the Kirk Breed, Robert Staats and Alan Kirschenbaum getting underway, with the Joe Lighthill Series scheduled for the trotters that month. .

The Robert Gordon Pacing Series kicks off on December 13, while the Lonnie Back Pacing Series and the Dr. Gary Budahn Trotting Series are scheduled to begin in January.

February finds the opening leg of the Shelly Goudreau Pacing Series and the Jim Grundy Trotting Series; with the Lloyd Arnold Free-for-all Pace decided on February 28 and the Stan Bergstein Free-for-all Trot to be contested on March 1.
