SBOANJ - WORD POWER INSTALLED AS NEW JERSEY CLASSIC FAVORITE; I LUV THE NITE LIFE IS 3-5 PICK IN MISS NEW JERSEY



MANALAPAN, NJ – July 30, 2013 – Word Power was installed as the 8-5 favorite in the $250,000 Anthony Abbatiello New Jersey Classic Final on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Meadowlands.

The New Jersey Classic, which has a field of 11 three-year-old New Jersey-sired pacing colts and geldings, will be carded as race 13.

In the filly companion event, the $125,000 Thomas D’Altrui Miss New Jersey, will be carded as the first race and offer no show wagering on its field of seven three-year-old New Jersey-sired pacing fillies.  The 3-5 morning line favorite is I Luv The Nitelife, the winner of six of seven starts this year, including the Fan Hanover, Lynch and Mistletoe Shalee stakes.  She drew post two.

Word Power, driven by Jim Morrill Jr. and trained by Larry Remmen, turned in an impressive stretch rally to finish third in his last start, the $450,000 Delvin Miller Adios at The Meadows on July 27.  The son of Western Ideal, owned by Bradley Grant of Milton, Ontario, was unraced at two and has finished in-the-money in six of seven starts in 2013, banking $128,250.  He will leave from post six.

Johny Rock, who won the New Jersey Classic Prep, was ranked 7-2 from the second tier, post 11.

The card includes three $70,000 Hambletonian elimination heats and the $1 million Hambletonian Final, the $500,000 Hambletonian Oaks, the $321,700 Merrie Annabelle, $217,000 Lady Liberty, $280,500 Peter Haughton, $318,350 John Cashman [formerly the Nat Ray], the $213,650 US Pacing Championship, the $75,000 Vincennes Invitational Trot and the $55,000 Ima Lula Mares Trot.
