Page and Merriman Share Weekend Spotlight

Drivers Chris Page and Aaron Merriman each dominated a weekend night to win five races over Northfield Park’s Flying Turns.  Page won five on Friday (November 9) and Merriman won his quintuplet of races on Saturday (November 10).

Page drove McArdle Direct ($2.60), The Sweet Dion ($4.40), Ayla Hanover ($5.60), Emma Rose Ben ($12.60) and Royal Fortune ($3.00) to victory.  Friday’s wins represent five of Page’s 1,683 career driving victories.  The Mt. Vernon native started driving in 2000 and has since garnered $6,518,844 in purse earnings.

On Saturday Aaron Merriman drove Mystical Sam ($10.20), High Heels N Spurs ($5.20), Masteroftheclass ($5.20), Richie The Clown (3.20) and Mainline Hall ($16.40) to victory.  Merriman leads the 2012 Northfield Park driver standings.  He has notched 5,455 career wins with $26,274,372 in purse earnings.

 
Richie The Clown Continues to Have Career Year

Northfield Park stalwart Richie The Clown posted his 18th win of 2012 on Saturday, ranking him the 4th winningest horse in North America this year.  Only CMR Maybe Loaded (20 at Rideau Carleton), Albion (19 at Cal Expo and Harrah’s Philadelphia) and Hidden Hall (19 at Georgian Downs and Sudbury Downs) have more wins than Richie The Clown.

The six-year-old son of Riches Hanover and Giggles The Clown is owned by Rhonda Conn and trained by Harla Loney.  Richie The Clown has 29 career victories and lifetime earnings of $121,419.
 

Hatfield Wins Billings Midwest Final

Bud Hatfield was victorious in the $6,000 Billings Midwest regional final at Northfield Park on Saturday.  Hatfield steered Wolf’s Jann in the gate-to-tire victory, stopping the timer in 2:00. 

The Billings $25,000 Delvin Miller Memorial Gold Cup, $15,000 Silver Cup and $7,500 Bronze Cup championships are set for Sunday, November 18 at Harrah’s Philadelphia.
