FOILED AGAIN TAKES THE FIFTH

BY FRANK DRUCKER, Publicity Director, Empire City @ Yonkers Raceway

YONKERS, NY, Tuesday, March 6, 2017—After 308 career starts and more than $7.5 million in earnings. Foiled Again is taking the fifth.
It’s not that he’s suddenly clamming up. Rather, the sport’s richest-ever equine is taking his fifth shot at a milestone 100th career victory.
Foiled Again won the automated draw ahead of a Thursday evening (March 8th) Yonkers Raceway return in the $20,000, eighth race.
Yannick Gingras is reunited with one of his more popular dates as the 14-year-old Dragon Again gelding goes after triple figures in the win column.
The pacer, fresh off his starring role in a well-received—and oft-repeated—local news (WCBS-TV) feature, wound up in a dead-heat for fourth in his latest effort two weeks removed from this upcoming start.
He’s raced the same class level (non-winners of $20,000 in last five starts) in all five seasonal tries, including a successful 2018 debut with George Brennan driving.
Foiled Again’s last dance with Gingras saw the duo just falter after the cutting the mile over a ‘good’ surface. Ironically, his last three starts have come over off tracks, and if the weatherman is correct, the remnants of a late-season snowstorm could have the going a bit moist Thursday night as well.
Despite outdrawing his seven rivals, Foiled Again shall have to earn it in a race with some class-dippers as well as those exiting high-price claimers.
