Last week members of Monticello Casino and Raceway staff
joined Thunder- 102FM in their annual County Cares fundraising radio thon in an effort to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital to help
end childhood cancer.
Not only did management personnel help raise funds on air
but at day’s end Monticello Casino and Raceway COO/CFO, Laurette Pitts, was on
hand to make a $1000 donation from the casino and raceway to
St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
“Monticello Casino and Raceway is proud to
sponsor such a worthwhile event and we were pleased to work with
our partners at Thunder-102 to help end childhood cancer,” Pitts said as she
posed with a replica of the $1000 check.
And Monticello Casino and Raceway employees
‘kicked-in’ by buying paper boots at $1.00 each, which stated ‘help
kick cancer’ and from those sales another $207 was raised.
Director of Human Resources, Eileen Cavanaugh, joined in the
activities to present the employee money and talk on air about the
importance of giving back.
“This month Monticello Casino and Raceway celebrated its
employees by declaring ‘Employee Appreciation Day’. The employees were grateful
for the experience and in an effort to pay it forward they raised $207.00 for
St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, once again, showing their caring and generous
nature by opening their hearts and wallets.
“We thank all those who worked so diligently to bring
awareness to such a worthy cause,” Cavanaugh said.
