NEW
ORLEANS, LA – John T. Ward, the Executive Director of the Kentucky Horse Racing
Board, was recently chosen as the Chairman-Elect of the Association of Racing
Commissioners International (RCI) Board of Directors.
The
election came at during the meeting held at the conclusion of the 79th
Annual RCI Conference on Racing and Wagering Integrity, held last week at the
Wyndham Riverfront Hotel in New Orleans, LA.
Ward
will succeed current RCI Board Chairman Duncan Patterson of the Delaware
Thoroughbred Commission, who is fulfilling his term for the 2013-2014 period.
Doug King of the Horse Racing Branch of the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming
Authority was once again elected Treasurer of the organization.
RCI
also elected Members of its Board of Directors for the 2013-2014 term. The
elected Directors are:

· Larry Eliason, Executive
Secretary, South Dakota Commission on Gaming
· Hugh Gallagher, Executive
Director, Delaware Harness Racing Commission
· Charles Gardiner, Executive
Director, Louisiana State Racing Commission
· Dan Hartman, Executive Director,
Colorado Division of Racing Events
· Mark Laino, Executive Director,
Illinois Racing Board
· Edward Menton, Chairman, Mobile
County Racing Commission
· Constantin “Tino” Rieger,
Executive Director, Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission
· Tom Sage, Executive Director,
Nebraska State Racing Commission
· Dr. Corinne Sweeney, Chairwoman,
Pennsylvania Horse Racing Commission
In
addition, Chairman Duncan Patterson appointed Commissioner Mark Lamberth of the
Arkansas Racing Commission to the Board of Directors. All elected and appointed
board members will serve a 1-year term.
The
newly elected Directors will join representatives assigned by the five
largest-handle jurisdictions: California, Florida, New Jersey, New York,
Ontario.
The
next scheduled meeting of the RCI Board of Directors will take place on July
31, 2013 at the RCI Summer Meetings, which will be held in Saratoga Springs,
NY.
