Forty Three and Sean Bier captured
Friday night’s featured $11,500 fillies and mares winners over pace at Tioga
Downs.
Leaving from post position number
two, Bier put Forty Three into contention early and enjoyed a two hole trip
courtesy of Sinspirational (Jimmy Marohn Jr.). Marohn cut through fractions of
28.1, 57.4, and 1:26. At the three quarter pole, Bier pulled Forty Three off
the rail and held off a late charge from Stormunn in the lane to win in 1:53.
It was the third win in thirteen seasonal starts for the 4-year old daughter of
American Ideal – Lake Hills Susie for Indigo Racing LLC of California. Jeff
Long took over the training duties on Forty Three since she came to Tioga, and
with the winning time of 1:53 established a new lifetime mark. Stormunn (Corey
Braden) finished second, while Lizzie’s Dream (Mike Merton) used her patented
late kick to get up for third.
Lewayne Miller was the only repeat
winner for drivers on Friday night posting a driving double on the night’s ten
race card.
