NYSS freshman pacers visit Tioga Downs on Sunday

Tioga Downs welcomes three divisions of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for 2-year-old pacing colts and geldings on Sunday (July 29) at 1 p.m.


In the first division of the NYSS ($36,566), Major Blake (Tim Tetrick) is the morning line favorite at 5-2.  The 2-year-old colt by Art Major-Bet Your Life is owned by Matthew Bencic, Howard Berke and trainer Sam Schillaci.
He has a win and a second in two starts.  His win was in a leg of the NYSS at Yonkers ($53,000)

The second morning line choice in the first division is the Ron Burke trained Bicorne Hanover (Matt Kakaley) at 3-1.  He is owned by Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, Martin and Switala.  
The 2-year-old colt by Art Major-Boldnbrash Hanover won a leg of the NYSS his last time out at Buffalo ($53,500).

In the second division of the NYSS ($36,566), the morning line top choice is Buddy Hill (Scott Zeron) at 5-2.  Owned by Tom Hill and trained by Chris Ryder, he has a win and a third in three career starts.
He is a 2-year-old colt by Roll With Joe-Lessofit Hanover.

The second morning line choice is World On Edge (Matt Kakaley) at 3-1.  Ron Burke trains this 2-year-old colt by Roll With Joe-Inanotherworld for owners Joe Di Scala, J&T Silva – Purnell & Libby, Andrew Sorella and Burke Racing Stable.  World On Edge is one for three with a win in a leg of the NYSS at Yonkers ($53,000).

In the final division of the NYSS ($35,866) the big morning line favorite at 9-5 is Melodies Major (Tyler Buter).
Owned by Marin Scharf and trained by Mark Ford, he is undefeated, three for three in his young career.  The 2-year-old colt by Art Major-Hilarious has captured legs of the NYSS at Yonkers ($52,000), Monticello ($54,500), and Buffalo ($53,500).

The second morning line choice is the Blake Macintosh trained Jack Nation (Jim Morrill Jr.) at 5-2.  Owned by Macintosh, Hutt Racing Stable, Ridgeway Racing Stable with Ozzie & Reg Stables, he has one win and two seconds in three starts.   Jack Nation is a 2-year-old colt by American Ideal-Ladyjack.  His win was a NYSS win at Monticello ($55,500).  He has finished second twice to Melodies Major.

The 13 race card at Tioga Downs on Sunday (July 29) starts at 1 p.m.
