Painite wins thrilling feature at Vernon.


Painite (Truman Gale) wins the featured trot ($9,000) at Vernon Downs on Friday (October 6).

Pop I (John MacDonald) would control all the early fractions :27.1, :56.4 1:25.0.  in the stretch it would be a wide open finish  that was five wide going to the wire.

Painite (Plesac) somehow squeezed through the smallest of openings and just nipped Pop I (second).  The Big Muscle (Joe Nassimos) finished third.

Painite ($19.60) won in a lifetime best of 1:54.1.  Owned by Donn Lewandrowski with Gail Farreill and trained by Gale, the 8 year-old mare would record her third win on the season and would get her 22nd career victory.

Gale would also get a victory with Party Jammer ($9.30).

Chris Lems would win three on the night.  He went into the winner's circle with Stick With Me Kid ($2.70), Manattack ($3.20), and Fuzzylegsandall ($26.20).

Vernon Downs returns to live action on Saturday (October 7) with a nine race card starting at 6:45 p.m.
