Larry Collmus, known as
the "Voice of the Triple Crown" for NBC Sports will call the 11th
race Friday Night at The Meadowlands.
Collmus has been a fixture, narrating the thoroughbred racing landscape for over 25 years and will tackle the standardbreds Friday night.
"I'm looking
forward to seeing The New Meadowlands for the first time after calling many
thoroughbred races in the original facility. This will be my first
harness call in about 20 years and it should be a lot of fun, so long as I
don't screw it up!"
Prior to landing the
announcers role in describing the greatest two minutes in sports, Collmus was a
staple in the Garden State, calling the races at Monmouth Park in Oceanport New
Jersey since 1994. It was there that he called his first Haskell
Invitational, won by the immortal Holy Bull. Collmus' fans will be able
to hear him call the Haskell again in 2014, this time for the national
broadcast of the event on NBC.
In additional to calling
the 11th race Friday night, Collmus will join Ken Warkentin as his In The Sulky
Guest on The Meadowlands television show.
