Thursday and Saturday nights at Cal Expo find both Pick 4s featuring reduced 15 percent takeout rates, with the Late Pick 4 on those programs coming with $10,000-guaranteed pools. In addition, winning Late Pick 4 tickets on Saturday have a 0% takeout for wagers made on track or at Twinspires.com.
In last Thursday evening’s (October 27) Late Pick 4, despite the fact that even-money favorite Cascata captured the final leg, the payoff was a cool $3,757 for each correct $1 ticket. Helping ignite the sequence were Yiannoulas Boy ($12), One And Only ($15) and Vantage ($19).
To show how much value the Pick 4 offers, a $1 parlay on these four winners was $910, yet the payoff was more than four times that amount for those who were sharp enough to put together the right combination.
Thursday’s (November 3) main event is a $4,500 Trot that finds Franks Best and Putoneonnetformom continuing what has become one of the best rivalries on the grounds. From their last five meetings at the head of the class, Franks Best has won three and Putoneonetformom has captured a pair, including last week’s clash.
Franks Best is a son of Armbro Scribe homebred who is owned and trained by Bob Johnson with Lemoyne Svendsen guiding, while Putoneonnetformom goes about his business for Jeff, Gerald and Diana Cimini with Rocky Stidham the conditioner and James Kennedy at the controls. Rounding out the field are D Man (Jim Lackey), Aston Boko (Scott Cisco), Carpathian Hooray (Rich Wojcio) and Giles L S Hanover (Steve Wiseman).
