K - Another Monster Mile at The Meadowlands
The
$50,000 TVG FFA trot, a Grand Circuit event, highlighted the Friday night card
at The Meadowlands on a delightful summer evening and Sebastian K scored
another dominating win in 1:50.3 leaving a very accomplished field in his wake.
Trainer /
driver Ake Svanstedt sent his stable star away fast from post five and he had
the front instantly, crossing over and asserting command. Then an early
challenge appeared to be coming from Archangel and Yannick Gingras, but
Svanstedt pushed the pedal, forcing Archangel into the pocket. Sebastian
K hit the quarter in 27.3. Left alone on the lead, Svanstedt rated Sebastian K
through a 56 flat half and 1:24.1 three panels. It was at this time that
Svanstedt began looking around for Market Share, who was grinding into it first
over, but never got within 1 ½ lengths of Sebastian K. As they
straightened away in the lane, Svanstedt popped the plugs and Sebastian K
displayed an electric turn of foot that left pocket sitting Archangel and
Market Share in his wake, sprinting home in 26.2 to close the mile without so
much as a “Come on boy” from Svanstedt.
Archangel
drafted along in the pocket and held the place while Market Share tried to
advance on the outside from the half to no avail and stayed on for third.
Sebastian
K has made a very strong impression on fans of trotting here at The Meadowlands
with his beauty and gait along with pacer-like speed. This was his third win in
as many tries since landing on US soil for Knutsson Trotting, Inc of Vero
Beach, FL. His winning efforts of 1:50.1, 1:50.2 and 1:50.3 are the
three fastest consecutive trotting miles in harness racing history.
The
Saturday program features the finals of The Caramore, Cathedra Dot Com and
Flower Child series. In addition, the Camels and Ostriches will do battle
in the third annual Cameltonian and Ostrich Races. Post time for the live
