HAMBURG, N.Y. --- Absolutely Certain left 'little doubt' in
winning Friday night's $10,500 Open Trot at Buffalo Raceway as he roared down
the passing lane to post a stunning one length victory over Fiorentina in a
seasonal best of 1:59.1. The victory was worth $38.00 to his faithful backers.
The betting board showed that the race was basically a
wide-open event and the field of seven didn't disappoint. Fiorentina (Ray
Fisher Jr.) took off and set the fractions with times of 29.4, 59.2 and
1:29.1.
The real race then came in the final quarter mile as four
trotters began to swoop in on the front-stepping Fiorentina. Studio City, Im
The Cashman and Escrow Blue Chip all had chances and made drives on the outside
but came up short. Absolutely Certain (Jim McNeight), in the meantime, found
the lightning lane just that. He was the quickest down the stretch and was able
to trot past Fiorentina, who finished second. Im The Cashman (Drew Monti) took
the show position.
Absolutely Certain (Malabar Man-River Runs Wild) is owned by
Garry Martin and is trained by Sue Stockwell. It was the third victory of the
season for the 6-year-old gelding, now a winner of $27,634 in 2014 and $105,725
lifetime.
Racing will continue on Saturday night at Buffalo Raceway
with a 12-race card scheduled for 6:40 p.m.
