Due to an early Labor Day holiday this year Monticello
Raceway’s live racing schedule will change slightly in September.
Since Labor Day falls on Monday, September 2 the raceway
will be dark that afternoon and to keep continuity with the four-day a week
schedule a race card has been added on Friday September 6. After that date
racing will be back to the usual Monday through Thursday format throughout the
remainder of the month.
All post times will continue to be at 12:50pm.
The added program on Friday, September 6 will be the
tracks third annual All Amateur Day and all the races will be
driven by some of the nation’s top amateur reinsmen..
“We are proclaiming September 6, ‘Veterans Day at the
Races’ and the main reason for the added program is to help raise
awareness, and money, for the Monticello Veterans Food Pantry, noted Eric
Warner the tracks Director of Racing .
Alan Schwartz, an amateur driver and president of the
Monticello Harness Horsemen’s Association, is spearheading the
fundraiser. He is a former Marine Corporal who fought in Vietnam.
