MR - CAROLE MACEDONIO NAMED EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH AT MONTICELLO RACEWAY & CASINO

Carole Macedonio, of Kiamesha Lake, NY ,has been named Employee of the Month of June at Monticello Casino & Raceway.

Macedonio is a valued member of the tracks Mutuels and Simulcasting Department and has been working for Monticello Casino & Raceway in her current capacity since 2003.  

She began her pari-mutuel career here at the Mighty M in 1981 as a mutuel clerk and had worked at other racetracks before her return.

“I worked at five other racetracks prior to returning to Monticello Raceway in  2003,” Macedonio said. “I worked in various mutuels positions at Pocono Downs, Yonkers Raceway, Pompano Park and even at the thoroughbred tracks of Calder and  Gulfstream.”

According to her immediate superior, Maureen Flynn, Monticello Raceway’s Director of Pari-mutuels and Simulcasts, Carole’s efforts are greatly appreciated and did not go unnoticed..

“Carole always takes the time to help any customer or employee even if it does not pertain to the Mutuels Department..She has exemplary phone etiquette and possesses great customer service skills,” Flynn noted.

“She takes pride in her work and is not afraid to learn something new.  And Carole puts her responsibilities first and will change her schedule anytime she is needed and she will go out of her way to answer a customer’s question or help a customer find the information or department that will help them.”

 Flynn adds that Carole is a great public relations ambassador for Monticello Casino & Raceway. 

“Her work ethic makes it possible for the Mutuels Department to accomplish more in the course of a day and Carole always pays attention to details. She has acquired a myriad of skills since she has been working in the Mutuels office.”

Macedonio has also learned to operate the backstretch camera, process daily work, and  research errors in paperwork. Currently she is learning the new Mutuels download system.

“I am so proud to have received an award for basically doing work that I thoroughly enjoy,”  Carole said. “And I really appreciate my boss and the other members of management.”

Macedonio’s family has been part of  the harness racing community for nearly a century.

Carole is daughter of the late great race announcer, Max Brewer, who was the longtime race caller at The Mighty M prior to his untimely passing in 1977 at just 39 years of age.

Her great grandfather, Ashley Brewer, and her granddad, Alvin “Red” Brewer were longtime horsemen and In 1985 Carole married horseman Carmine Macedonio. Unfortunately Carmine lost a hard fought battle against cancer and passed  away in 2000.

Although Carole was not involved on the backstretch she has many years of  experience  on the management side. However, Carole and Carmine’s son Ryan, continues the family legacy and is currently is a trainer –driver competing at various racetracks on the East Coast.

Even Carole’s mom, Christine Brewer, has long been associated with harness racing.

“Mom, and her Brewer Agency, are pedigree specialists and equineologists of standardbred horses,” Carole added. “Harness racing, in one form or another, has always been part of our family.”
