YONKERS, NY, Friday, November 14,
2014—Yonkers Raceway’s Friday night $35,000 featured Filly and Mare Open
Handicap Pace was won by Rockaround Sue (Jason Bartlett, $9.50).
At the outset, it was 3-5 choice Robin
Cruiser (Jordan Stratton) taking a very brief three-hole. She quickly
took over just after a :27.2 opening quarter-mile, then found a 57-second
intermission.
Rockaround Sue (Jason Bartlett),
meanwhile, landed fourth from post position No. 7. After halftime, she was
making second move, advancing toward “Robin” down the backside. The people’s
preference initially repelled that challenge in and out of a 1:24.4
three-quarters, taking a tenuous lead into the lane.
Try as she might, “Robin” could not
subdue ”Sue,” with latter edging by late. The final margin was a neck in
1:53.4. Set Me Up (Pat Lachance), UF Dragon’s Queen (Mark MacDonald) and
Carolsideal (Jeff Dauplaise) completed the cashers.
For second choice Rockaround Sue, a
5-year-old daughter of Rocknroll Hanover co-owned by Bamond Racing & Silva
Stables and trained by PJ Fraley, it was her fifth win in 33 seasonal starts.
The exacta paid $20.60, with the triple returning $189.
The Raceway's five-program-per-week live schedule changes, with first post every Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:10 PM, and the second of six Sunday matinees (replacing Tuesday evenings) this weekend at 11 AM.
