BY FRANK DRUCKER, Publicity Director, Empire City @ Yonkers Raceway

YONKERS, NY, Tuesday, January 22, 2013--Yonkers Raceway enjoyed its biggest handle of the young season on a--shall we say--brisk Tuesday night, with $1,017,797 wagered on the 12-race card.

Brian Sears added to his lead in the driver standings with four winners, including both halves of the $13.60 early daily double. Sears now has 29 wins in the first nine racing nights. George Brennan won twice, with Eric Goodell, Jeff Gregory, Matt Kakaley, Jim Pantaleano, Larry Stalbaum and Jordan Stratton winning one race each.

Horsemen are reminded that nomination blanks are now available for Yonkers Raceway’s Petticoat and Sagamore Hill Pacing Series (deadline Feb. 1) along with Blue Chip Matchmaker and George Morton Levy Memorial Pacing Series (deadline Mar. 1).  Forms are available at www.yonkersraceway.com, the nightly live racing program as well as print and on-line harness publications. For more information, please contact the race office at (914) 457-2627.

The Raceway continues its normal five-night-per-week live schedule, with first post every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:10 PM. Evening simulcasting accompanies all live programs, with afternoon simulcasting available around the NYRA schedule.
