Some Movement in Dave Little's Road to the Crawford Farms Meadowlands Pace Week 4


Off a superb 1:49.1 seasonal debut, Captain Crunch stayed atop Dave Little's "Road to the Crawford Farms Meadowlands Pace", but after winning last week, Workin Ona Mystery and Bettor's Wish vaulted to Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, as the stakes season continues to heat up.

Paced his final quarter in :26 in the slop to win his seasonal debut at Pocono Downs in a lifetime-best equaling 1:49.1. “That was probably one of the most impressive seasonal debuts I’ve ever seen,” said a proud Johansson. “He was never pushed at any point in the mile and Scott (Zeron) kept his earplugs in. We are back in on Sunday at Philadelphia.”

Brown has a pair here that could prove as prolific as Downbytheseaside and Fear The Dragon. Brown: “He’s a very nice horse. He’s only lost one race in his life. He behaved better with some equipment changes. He’ll qualify sometime next week.”

He came out of the race fine. I’m not happy with post 6 (in the Rooney Final on Saturday) but my toughest opponents have drawn outside of me, so I guess we did OK.”

Used a burst of early speed to grab the lead from post 8 before settling for third to Captain Crunch in a solid effort in the Poconos. Brown: “He was very good, yet both he and Workin Ona Mystery scoped a little but sick. We’ll go next at Philadelphia in the Sire Stakes.” Brown also has Air Force Hanover, who could be seen in this Top 10 soon.
