Off a superb 1:49.1 seasonal debut, Captain Crunch stayed
atop Dave Little's "Road to the Crawford Farms Meadowlands Pace", but
after winning last week, Workin Ona Mystery and Bettor's Wish vaulted to Nos. 2
and 3, respectively, as the stakes season continues to heat up.

Paced his final quarter in :26 in the
slop to win his seasonal debut at Pocono Downs in a lifetime-best equaling
1:49.1. “That was probably one of the most impressive seasonal debuts I’ve
ever seen,” said a proud Johansson. “He was never pushed at any point in the
mile and Scott (Zeron) kept his earplugs in. We are back in on Sunday at
Philadelphia.”

Wow! Drew away from his foes by almost 5
lengths in an eye-popping 1:49.3 over the off-going at Pocono. Could he Be
better than stablemate Proof? Brown has a pair here that could prove as
prolific as Downbytheseaside and Fear The Dragon. Brown: “He’s a very nice
horse. He’s only lost one race in his life. He behaved better with some
equipment changes. He’ll qualify sometime next week.”

Easy peasy kind of winner in his Rooney
Elim, leading at every call in a down-the-road 1:53.2 score over Blood Money
at Yonkers. Ryder: “My horse was very good, according to my driver. He came
out of the race fine. I’m not happy with post 6 (in the Rooney Final on
Saturday) but my toughest opponents have drawn outside of me, so I guess we
did OK.”

Used a burst of early speed to grab the
lead from post 8 before settling for third to Captain Crunch in a solid
effort in the Poconos. Brown: “He was very good, yet both he and Workin Ona
Mystery scoped a little but sick. We’ll go next at Philadelphia in the Sire
Stakes.” Brown also has Air Force Hanover, who could be seen in this Top 10
soon.

Finished a pocket-sitting second as the
3-5 favorite to Bettor’s Wish at Yonkers in an elimination for the Art
Rooney. Johansson: “Scott (Zeron) was sitting on a ton of horse, and we
weren’t going to kill him in an elimination with a final that has an open
draw.” Leaves to Bettor’s Wish’s outside on Saturday night at Yonkers.

Continued his solid season with a
second-place finish at the hands of Workin Ona Mystery after leaving quickly
from post 8 and going an inside trip the rest of the way at Pocono.
Cancelliere: “This is a happy little fella.” Based on performance, his
trainer is apparently happy as well.

Left in :26.3, raced in the pocket
thereafter, finished third in a 3-way photo in nice try at Pocono. Burke: “He
raced better and still scoped sick at 5 out of 5, so we’ll have to be more
aggressive treating him to clear his mucus because he is back in on Sunday at
Philadelphia.”
