HAMBURG, N.Y. --- Miss Mary Mach kept her brief unbeaten
streak alive at Buffalo Raceway on Wednesday evening (May 29) by taking the
featured $11,000 Class A Open pace for the filly and mares.
Making her debut at the Hamburg half-mile oval on May 22
with a half-length victory in 1:56.1, Miss Mary Mach (Jim Morrill Jr.) stepped
up in class this week and had no issues in registering a 1-1/2 length decision
over Sportsmuffler in 1:56.1.
Scoring from the four post, Miss Mary Mach ($5.30) was able
to storm to the lead and set soft fractions of :29.1 and :59.3 to the half.
Morrill Jr. then got Miss Mary Mach into overdrive the final
two panels, using a :56.3 last half to nail down the victory. Sportsmuffler
(David McNeight III) took the second place position while Sarah Cola (Ray
Fisher Jr.) was third.
Co-owned by the Burke Racing Stable LLC and Weaver Bruscemi
LLC, it was the sixth win in 16 outings for the 4-year-old mare Miss Mary Mach
(Mach Three-Mary Artman). The triumph moved her seasonal earnings to $38,432
and $73,165 lifetime.
Morrill Jr. completed the evening with a triple while trainer
James Clouser Jr. collected a double.
Racing will continue on Friday evening at 5 p.m. with a
nine-race program set. There's a $1026 carryover in the Pick-5 which begins in
the second race.
