HAMBURG, N.Y. --- After suffering a narrow nose defeat last
week, Sportsmuffler made sure she wasn't going to suffer the same fate on
Wednesday night (April 10).
Starting from the pylons, Sportsmuffler ($3.30) led every
step of the way and blew away the field by four lengths in Buffalo Raceway's
$9,200 Class A-B Handicap pace for the filly and mares.
Sportsmuffler wasted no time to reaching the lead, putting
up a :58.2 opening half over the fast track. Things went even quicker from
there as driver Billy Davis Jr. put on the burners with Sportsmuffler,
scorching the final half in :57.2. Rock My World (Kevin Cummings), who pinned
the narrow loss on Sportsmuffler last week, had to settle for second place with
Bad Glamour Girl (Ray Fisher Jr.) taking third.
Owned by Rose Campbell and trained by Steven Kiblin, it was
the first victory of the season for Sportsmuffler
(Sportsmaster-Whatifthere'smore). The 7-year-old mare has now earned $7,700 in
2019 and $296,206 in her career.
Jim Morrill Jr., Drew Monti and Davis Jr. all doubled on the
program with Frank Mays and Jeff Amann scoring training doubles.
Racing will resume on Friday night at 5 p.m. with a 10-race
card on tap.
