Roll With Sparky won the Tioga Downs Fillies and Mares Open Handicap ($10,000) on a special July fourth matinee.
Roll With Sparky ($3.80) went to the lead and controlled all the fractions (:27.1, :57.0, 1:24.0, 1:52.1). Miss Irish Rose A (Larry Stalbaum) followed the whole way. She would make a run at the lead in the stretch but Roll With Sparky had plenty in the tank to win with ease. Miss Irish Rose A finished second. K J's Caroline (Mike Merton) was third best.
Roll With Sparky is a 4-year-old mare by Roll With Joe. Trained by MacDonald for owners James Graham, Lee Winters, and Paul Tandlmeyer, it was her fourth win this season and 16th career victory.
MC Attagirl (Fern Paquet Jr.) wins seventh in a row with a victory in the Fillies And Mares Open 3 ($7,900).
MC Attagirl ($10.80) went to the lead and controlled the early fractions (:28.1, :57.3, 1:25.4). Checkered Past (Jim Meittinis) pressured her all around the last turn taking the lead at the top of the stretch. MC Attagirl answered back by pulling away in deep stretch to win in 1:52.4. Rockin Desire came up to finish second. Calbay (Dan Harvey) picked up third place.
MC Attagirl is a 4 year-old mare by Proper Respect. Owned and trained by Edgar Clarke, she now has eight wins on the season. It was the 10th time she reached the winner's circle in her career.
Tioga Downs will have no racing on Friday (July 6). Live racing returns on Saturday (July 7) with an 11 race card starting at 6:15 p.m.
