YONKERS,
NY, Tuesday, November 6, 2012--Hillbilly Hanover, who hasn't won a race all
season, won the draw for Saturday night's 57th edition of Yonkers Raceway's
Messenger Stakes for 3-year-old colts and geldings.
The final jewel of the Pacing Triple Crown, worth $415,820, goes as the eighth
race on the 13-race wagering card (first post 7:10 PM, approximate stakes post
time 9:35 PM).
Seven colts and one gelding are set to the contest the Messenger Stakes, The
draw, with declared drivers…1-Hillbilly Hanover (Jim Morrill Jr.),
2-Domethatagain (Brent Holland), 3-A Rocknroll Dance (Dave Miller), 4-Lawgiver
Hanover (Eric Goodell), 5-Bolt the Duer (Mark MacDonald), 6-Major Bombay (Brian
Sears), 7-Pet Rock (George Brennan), 8-Steelhead Hanover (Tim Tetrick).
Some quick notes..Hillbilly Hanover, the lone gelding in the field, has earned
more money this season ($236,503) than any winless horse. He enters this race
0-for-19...A Rocknroll Dance, winner of the Meadowlands Pace, is one of six
pacing millionaires ($1,011,464) in 2012, all but one (Foiled Again) are in the
3YO pacing colt/gelding glamour division...Major Bombay, the New York Sire
Stakes champ this season, is one of four Empire-breds (Domethatagain, Lawgiver
Hanover, Steelhead Hanover) in this race...Pet Rock returns to Westchester for
the first time since winning the Art Rooney Pace here in early June. His 1:51
effort was a stakes record and a track record for his age group....Bolt the
Duer, second to Pet Rock in the Rooney after cutting the mile, is the world
record-holder over a five-eighths oval off his 1:47.4 win in the Adios at the
Meadows.
The stakes companion event, the $229,440 Lady Maud Pace for 3-year-old fillies,
goes as the sixth race (approximate post time 8:55 PM). The ladies line up thusly...1-Bettor
