Chatelroll (Frank
Affrunti) catapults to an easy win in the $7,000 Open Pace at Vernon Downs on
Saturday (July 3).
Dreams Beachboy (Chris
Long) went straight to the front and led to the first quarter in :26.3. He used a :27.3 second quarter to lead to the
half in :54.1. He continued the blistering pace with a :27.0 third
quarter. He was first to three-quarters
in 1:21.1.
Chatelroll ($2.60) was
last at the half and moved up to fourth at three-quarters. As they made the turn for home, he looked
like he was shot out of a cannon. He
came zooming by Dreams Beachboy like the gelding was standing still. Chatelroll won in a lifetime best of
1:49.2. Bruce’s Magic (Leon Bailey)
moved up to take second. Peggy J (Jeff
Sorenson) finished third.
Chatelroll is a
5-year-old horse by Roll With Joe. He is
owned by the Purple Haze Stables and trained by George Ducharme. It was his sixth win in eight starts this
season and his 17th career victory.
Ducharme trained two winners
on the card. His other win came with
Royally Raised ($2.70). Justin Huckabone
had a driving double. He came in first
with Isaac ($2.20) and Battenberg ($9.20).
