In the span
of 3 weeks, Monticello Raceway has increased purses by 35%, Race Secretary Eric
Warner noted that the last 3 conditions sheets have each shown a purse increase
of 10% - 15% and 10%. “Historically this is when we always raise our
purses, it is our intention with the increased purses that we can attract more
horses. It is very difficult at this time of the year to fill the box
with all the tracks being open”, said Warner.
