HAMBURG, N.Y. --- Heaven Rocks got to an early lead and
stoned the field the rest of the way in capturing Buffalo Raceway's featured
$9,600 pace on Saturday night (April 7) in a seasonal best 1:56.3 over the fast
track.
Driven by John Cummings Jr., Heaven Rocks ($4.10) started
from the two post and managed to grab the top by registering a :28.0 opening
panel. With middle splits of :57.3 and 1:27.2, Heaven Rocks was ready and
waiting for challengers in the home stretch.
Focus Power (Drew Monti) and China Dream (Billy Davis Jr.),
who finished second and third respectively, made valiant attempts to collar the
pace-setter late but their efforts came up short as Heaven Rocks posted the
3/4-length victory.
Owned by Tessa Roland and trained by JD Perrin, it was the
third win in nine tries this year for Heaven Rocks (Rock N Roll Heaven-Cheerful
Outlook). The 6-year-old gelding has now earned $21,430 in 2018 and $149,656
lifetime.
Monti finished the evening with four victories in the bike,
Ray Fisher Jr. tripled while Shawn Gray and David McNeight III each had
doubles. Perrin conditioned four winners with Mihajlo Zdjelar Jr. and James
Clouser Jr. each scoring a pair.
Racing will resume on Wednesday night at 5 p.m. with a nine-race
program set.
