New York, June 1-Morton Finder, 82, a prominent Standardbred horse owner and breeder, passed away in his sleep earlier today in the VA Hospital in New York City.  He was a native of Brooklyn and a former Coast Guard officer during World War II.

A legendary owner and breeder, Mr. Finder raced horses on the New York circuit at Yonkers Raceway, the now-defunct Roosevelt Raceway, The Meadowlands and other leading harness racetracks throughout the country dating back to the 1950's, and was part of the ownership  group of 1966 Triple Crown champion Romeo Hanover.

Mr. Finder was an astute and successful handicapper during harness racing’s heyday.

He also co-owned leading Standardbred breeding farm, Pine Hollow Stud Farm, with Monticello Raceway founder Charles Slutsky, and syndicated world renowned harness racehorses including Triple Crown champion Niatross.

In later years, Mr. Finder owned and bred many stakes horses as a partner with the late Lou Guida, racing under the Finder-Guida Enterprises banner.

Mr. Finder was known for his philanthropy, supporting such charities as Henry Street Settlement.

He is survived by three adult children, Robin Arnold, David Finder, and Jeffrey Finder, and four grandchildren.

JERSEYFEST 2016 RETURNS TO MEADOWLANDS RACING & ENTERTAINMENT FOR FOOD TRUCK MASH-UP

Award-winning Jersey and Philly Food Trucks will battle it out on June 4^th

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ –On Saturday, June 4^th, award- winning Jersey and Philly Food Trucks will travel to Meadowlands Racing and Entertainment for JerseyFest Food Truck Mash Up 2016. Beginning at 3:30 pm until 11:00 pm, fest-goers will experience an evening of the best live-harness racing, music and food the Garden State has to offer. Once again, Meadowlands Racing and Entertainment has partnered with Exposure Events and New Jersey Media Group to sponsor the Food Truck Mash-Up: Jersey vs. Philly.

Over 26 specialty food trucks will participate including Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, TaxiCab Burger, Empanada Guy, The Thai Elephant, Callahan’s Hot Dogs, El Lechon de Negron, The French Quarter, Luke’s Lobster, Polkadot Cupcake Shop, Waffle de Lys, Sanducci’s Wood Fired Pizza, The Angry Crab from New Jersey and The Cow and The Curd, Philly Fry,  Pompier Pierogie Flats, Oink & Moo BBQ, Unique Greek Food Truck, PBandU, Dump’N Roll, Mama’s Meatballs, The Flying Pie Guy and Chicken N’Cone of Philadelphia. Other non-truck food and beverage vendors participating includes, Kath’s Catering, Uncle Joe’s Kettle Corn, Wild Bills Soda, Metro Candy Apple, Glazed & Confused, Clyde’s Italian Ice, The Corn Maze, Jersey Girl Smoothies, Organo Gold.

A VIP Admission Package is available for $30 exclusively online. The package includes 3:30pm admission, a $2 betting voucher and $5 in Mash-Up cash to redeem at any of the participating food trucks.

The Jersey vs. Philly Food Truck Mash-Up will be held in the Backyard and on the East Apron and will open to the public at 5:00 pm for $5 general admission at the door. Kids under 5 will be admitted at no charge and the track will remain open and free to the public before, during and after the festivities. Free parking will also be available and every guest will have the opportunity to pre-register for a $2 betting voucher online. 

Ale Street News has sponsored the craft beer from Defiant, Sam Adams, Yuengling, Cricket Hill, Speakeasy, 1911, Doc’s Hard Cider, Blue Moon, Sierra Nevada, and New Belgium will be available for purchase in the Backyard and live musical entertainment by Men Of Horses will commence at 4:00 pm until 11:00 pm.
