MR - ALDRICH WILL WIN HIS FOURTH MIGHTY M DRIVING TITLE; LOUNSBURY WILL COP HIS FIRST TRAINING AWARD

The inimitable Yogi Berra is known to have said “it ain’t over til it’s over” but regardless of what the Yankee’s Hall of Famer stated, put a circle around the names of driver Bruce Aldrich Jr. and trainer Bob Lounsbury  as they are well on the way of  winning  their individual titles even though the curtain hasn’t come down on Monticello Raceway’s 2013 season.

Aldrich and Lounsbury have been lethal together this year and both have been enjoying their finest seasons of their careers

With the last racing program of the year still underway today (Dec. 31) here at the Mighty M Aldrich already has  four wins in the bag and he will cop his fourth driving title here  although his final stats  could increase before the day is over. And with a late charge Lounsbury, who has harnessed two more winners thus far today , overtook Danny Gill and will cop his first training title at season’s end.

Aldrich started the day third in wins (639) on the North American leaderboard only six  behind Dave Palone’s  645 and after recording four driving victories in the first six races on the Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 31) card Aldrich has a chance, albeit outside, of catching Palone, or even topping him,  if he stays hot in the last six races. However no one will overtake Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. whose 714 wins are the best on the continent.

On the other hand, Lounsbury started the final day of racing with 204 winners from his barn which is some eight  more than Danny Gill’s output.   The over whelming majority of Lounsbury’s  winners were driven by Aldrich.

Final Mighty M driving and training stats will be available on Thursday, January 2.

Gosh - HISTORIC TRACK MOVES ITS TRACK OFFICE TO THE ARDEN CLUBHOUSE

For decades the track office at Goshen Historic Track has been underneath the longstanding grandstand and recently work has been completed to move the main office to the Arden Clubhouse which has been totally restored.

“The new move has been absolutely wonderful and greatly appreciated,” noted Linda Myers, the longtime secretary to the Board. “It’s such an improvement  and  so nice to have this building restored and utilized after all these years.”

The new track office, which is located near the facility’s front gate, still has the same phone number (845.294.5333) and the  same fax number (845.294.3998).

According to members of the Board it has been a costly move for the not-for-profit corporation but extremely necessary since the area beneath the grandstand, which previously  housed the offices, has seen its best days.

Since the needed move at the National Historic Landmark was expensive donations will be graciously accepted to help defray costs.

Should anyone want to make a donation please address all correspondence to: Goshen Historic Track, 44 Park Place, Goshen, NY 10924.

Memberships to Historic Track for family ($35), patrons ($100) and corporations ($200) are also encouraged and would be greatly appreciated. Membership forms can be found on the facility’s website(goshenhistorictrack.com) and can be mailed to the track’s address above.
